We are having a beautiful Fall so far this year in Nova Scotia so we have no excuses as to why we are not out & taking advantage of some terrific events going on across the province before the snow flies.

You are probably saying, that's true but what is there to do? Looking for some ideas, here are just a few:


First Annual Fall River BBQ Competition

Think you make the best Ribs? Come out for a good cause and prove it! Saturday Sept 15 at the LWF Hall on Fall River Road, Live music, BBQ and lots of fun!

Charcoal, propane, Kamodo whatever you have bring it! We will have judges, peoples choice award and prizes. All in support of raising funds for the new kitchen at the LWF.


Saturday Sept 15th
Set up starts between noon and 2

Ribs must be not prepared beforehand

Rib check in will be at 1:30
Judging is at 8pm

Entry is $10 in support of the LWF Kitchen Fundraiser

Bark in the Park

The Nova Scotia SPCA is hosting the 3rd annual Bark in the Park event on Saturday, September 15th, 2012 at Shubie Park in Dartmouth. The event will take place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. (registration starts at 10:30 a.m.)

This event will run rain or shine. We encourage all animal lovers to attend this event, as it will be fun-filled day with live entertainment, face painting, BBQ, agility and flyball demonstrations, dog-related vendors and services, contests, prizes, and much more!

We encourage everyone to participate by collecting pledges to walk or jog a trail with or without a furry friend. We have an online pledging system to make it easy for people to ask friends, family members, and colleagues to help support the animals in need.

Spend a leisurely day experiencing the wineries of Nova Scotia and scenic beauty of the Annapolis Valley. Your Nova Scotia wine experience includes wine tastings at three of the province's premiere wineries (Sainte Famille, Domaine de Grand Pré and Gaspereau Valley Vineyards) as well as a two-course gourmet lunch with paired wines at Domaine de Grand Pré's celebrated 'Le Caveau' restaurant. After lunch, it is on to Gaspereau Valley Vineyards for a wine and artisanal cheese tasting featuring products from Fox Hill Farm located in nearby Port Williams. This tasting will also include a sample of an award-winning Icewine. Begin the day a Nova Scotia wine enthusiast, end the day a Nova Scotia wine lover.

Richardson's Corn Maze Opens

Oodles of fun awaits you at the farm this fall. Explore the 6 km of trail in our 7 acre corn maze, challenge yourself to figure out the Jammed Tractor mini maze, cats cradle maze and pathway puzzle maze and play in the strawbale maze. Lasso some toy horses and play in the corn box. Visit the animals. Chuck some pumpkins at targets. Check out our heritage barn full of antiques and educational displays. Then finish off the day with a visit to our pumpkin piles and choose the perfect pumpkin! We also have cornstalks, gourds, mini straw bales and more for all your fall decorating needs.Wagon rides will be part of the fun from approximately on Saturdays. We've also got some great live music lined up for Saturday afternoons.

We're ending our season with

The Great Pumpkin Smash

Saturday November 3rd 1-5pm

Bring your used pumpkin to the farm and smash it from the top of our corn maze tower.

All fall family fun activities will be open including wagon rides.

Farm Admission will be a donation to a trust fund for ongoing medical and rehabilitation expenses for Lydia Herrle.

The reaction would be fast if there would be more surface area. Therefore, for making the reaction fast and they increase the surface area of the solid particles by making the surface porous.
